Goals & Objectives

DSC_1141In 1998, Bobby Smith started Texas Fastpitch.  His goal is to train and educate student athletes on the correct skills and fundamental mechanics of the pitch, resulting in maximized spin, movement and speed of the ball.  He employs this through SUCCESSFUL and PROVEN techniques that maximize the power, agility and mental approach to the game.

Bobby believes the fundamental key to a great pitch is ball movement and will take movement over speed.  He strives to teach the student  that speed will come if  good mechanics and confidence in the pitch is achieved.

Pitchers will be trained with correct mechanics and drills to improve speed, movement and control. This is accomplished by tailoring instructions and drills that fit each athlete's own unique style of pitching.  He is the first to realizes  that there's more than one way to achieve ball  movement.

Classes are scheduled on a weekly basis and private lessons are available, if desired.  They are held in various parts of the city for the convenience of the athlete and their family.

A Poem for Teachers and Coaches

I'd rather see a lesson

than hear one any day.

I'd rather you'd walk with me

than merely show the way.

The eye's a better teacher

and more willing than the ear.

And counsel is confusing,

but examples always clear.

The best of all the teachers,

are the ones who live the creed.

The counsel you are giving

may be very fine and true

But, I'd rather get my lesson,

by observing what you do.
